The complete works of Thomas Manton (1620 - 1677) have been digitized and made available for free online. Manton was one of the Oxford trained Puritans who, with John Owen, served Cromwell during the Lord Protectorate. His works were published in 22 volumes in 1870, and the digitized version for download reflects the age. His "Treatise for the Afflicted" is one of his better known pastoral works that has been a cure for many distraught souls.[manton] | [books]

As previously mentioned/promised, we here at What the Thunder Said were going to procure a document that takes us to task for a previous response we penned. The said document, a reply to our reply to the original article by one Darryl Erkel (of whom a good number of his articles may be found here) - who is also the author of the replied reply, is available as download as a .doc file for MS Word. If anyone really wants me to, I'll convert it to PDF if it will make anyones life easier. In the near future I will muster a response - and apology, where appropriate - to the document. Reading: Frantically studying for my finals
I don't think it a stretch to guess that many people right now are running on fumes, and are near the end of their rope. Perhaps you are finishing up finals. Or maybe you are in the final throes of preparing for the holidays and wrapping presents. Or perhaps the Lord has granted you a measure of rest during this perpetually busy season. Regardless, listening to a beautiful a capella choir lift their hearts and voices in praise to God will do your heart good.

There are few things of higher importance to me right now on my theological horizon than these three things. A crucial article that helped me with this appeared in ModernReformation awhile ago... one site EVERYONE should have bookmarked is Reformation Ink. It is a superb site run by Shane Rosenthal, who has worked closely with the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals and ModernReformation.Enjoy!
I hope you enjoy these articles, and they stimulate your thinking on this issue. If the Law/Gospel distinction is new to you, while these articles are helpful, I would wait on reading them. The same if covenant theology is novel. First go read some of the articles at Reformation Ink, or better yet, read the article by Ligon Duncan here. Of course, if you do all that reading, you won't need to come back for these, but, oh well.

I've finally figured out how to post downloads. In reality, this is what I've been wanting to do for a long time now: have a way to make things I have available for download to friends and strangers who may find value in this. So to that end, if you ever wanted to know more about Romans 2:4 and how Paul uses repentance in that text and its larger pericope, this could be a source for you. Or, if you knew I had done this, and wanted to check up on it, now its available as well.
