A Flicker in the Dark
Poetry

Reading: Basics of Biblical Hebrew
Listening: Still no music
Enjoying: Quizno's Honey ham or something

This one is a bit old, but I thought I'd better get some going quick. I especially appreciate feedback and criticism of verse, since I'm quite poor at it and any comments (even unprofessional thumbs up/down) helps a lot. May you enjoy.

A Flicker in the Dark

Fanning flames on dark nights burn bright,
And all the palates create sights
Of distant memories, and lights
That kindle deep loves, strong and tight.

Bittersweet, pungent, the smoke and fire
Creates, and destroys – cups briar;
The love and the prayers are higher,
Than e'er this ashen heart could sire.

Tho' I'd fly, this cup is still mine,
To walk a fine and dirty line.
Ground teeth through tears help to opine
As I incarnate my design.

But yet for a while on this night,
I sit and exude o'er my fire –
And wait for aeons, all of time,
To conspire in a moment... eternity.

That was a VERY interesting one! Seriously interesting.

That is great to hear, thank you for reading!

Transplanted from the artic blight of Minnesota to the sunny paradise of SoCal, I am attending school and learning to say "dude." I like to think of myself as equal parts surf rash, Batman, heavy metal, Levinas, poetic license, and reformational. Other than creating blund blogs, I enjoy reading, sporting, and socializing with serious and funny people.

How does Rowling and the "Harry Potter" series stack up against Tolkien and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy?
Rowling is the new dreamweaver. She is reigniting literature and fantasy as we know it.
Tolkien is the undisputed favorite. We have not yet seen a match for his philogistic skill.
This is apples and oranges. You might as well compare ping pong with Halo. Two different animals.
Rowling wins, but only by one quidditch goal.
Tolkien still stands, but only barely.
